Simulation Protocols
One overarching objective in providing this publicly-available, centralized resource of residential building retrofit measures is to improve the technical consistency and accuracy of the results of software programs. To this end, NREL has also developed a set of recommendations regarding modeling inputs and assumptions derived from two decades of residential buildings research via the Building America Research Program. Section III of the Building America House Simulation Protocols provides information regarding typical operation of residential buildings, useful when occupant-specific input is not available or desirable.
